Achtung Englische post:-
There is a major difference between SPAX, GAZ and Koni.
Spax and GAZ are
needle valve dampers. (totally assymetric and prone to fade). There are others too...
The damping is directly proportional to the size of the damper piston, and the piston rod.
Gaz are designed really rubbish, and can't be adjusted on bump only rebound same as Spax.
I had a serious accident as a result of a weld fracture in a Spax damper, which nearly cost me and my passenger our lives....
Koni are foot valve dampers with shim loaded valves and DON'T use needle valves.
The welding is good quality on Konis, and are used by the factory on Jaguars.
Therefore KONI are the best and can be valved specially.
Koni are the same
basic design as proper racing dampers..
Ohlins, Proflex, Penske, Rieke etc..
You can valve a Koni to have more bump than rebound or even dual adjustable.
This is the correct way for damping with a TR6, and you can also use progressive rate springs to improve it further.
leaf springs used on the GT6,Vitesse, TR3-4 have some of their own damping built in.
Just thought you may like to know.
