witzige "Interpretationshilfe" für das Lesen von englischen Oldieanzeigen - aus dem englischen Stag-Forum.
Viel Spaß bei Lesen,
Dieter.
Whilst sharing much in common with estate agents and second-hand car dealers generally, the classic car market is developing its own particular language. Here is an attempt to translate some common terms. Enjoy!
Sound investment = You can hear your money draining away
Extensive history = Lots of owners and money wasted on it
No expense spared = a money pit and will cost you a fortune too
Very rare = They were made of tin and most have rotted away
Grand Tourer = Costs a grand in fuel to get to the ferry port
Totally original = Still drives like a bucket of lard
Sympathetically restored = Ran out of money half way through restoration
Patina = the paintwork is faded and the chrome is shot
Discerning investor = A mug with money who knows nothing about cars
I'm sure more can be added!
